Salceda’s pet parochial bills get House nod

May 19, 2017 @ 13:10

Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda scored a double victory recently after two of his top parochial bills were approved on third and final reading by the House of Representatives (HOR).

These measures are House Bill (HB) 5552 and HB 5551.

HB 5552 declares April 3 of every year as “Albay Day” in commemoration of the province’s foundation anniversary.

On the other hand, HB 5551 bats for the designation of September 3 as “Simeon Ola Day”. The date is the birthday of Simeon Ola, the courageous Filipino general who was the last to surrender to American troops during the Philippine American War.

Both days are deemed special nonworking holidays in Albay based on their respective bills.
Salceda is a first term congressman. He previously served as Albay governor for three consecutive terms.
