Another CamSur kagawad-slash-pusher falls
Why do Barangay kagawads (councilmen) from Camarines Sur keep getting arrested for drug pushing?
The latest such village politiko-slash-drug peddler to fall in the hands of police is Kagawad Benjie Saballa San Juan of Barangay Borosoc-Bosoc, Camarines Sur.
Buhi Municipal Police Station chief, Chief Inspector Edgar Callada called the suspect a “High Value Target (HVT)” whose drug peddling activities reach as far as the next town of Baao.
A Brigada News FM Naga report Friday (May 12) revealed that San Juan was nabbed through a search warrant served by elements of the police station.
Recovered from the suspect were 19 small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, an improvised handgun, and 45 bullets.
San Juan’s companion identified as Nelson Serrano was also collared after cops seized nine alleged shabu sachets from him.
Last February, Iriga Councilman Alan Alanis coughed up 150 grams of shabu with a street value of P1 million. This led to his arrest by authorities.
Then, in March, during an anti-drug shakedown at the Iriga City District Jail, the detained Alanis
yielded four plastic sachets of shabu.
President Rodrigo Duterte has repeatedly claimed in his speeches that the illegal drug menace has strong presence at the Barangay level.
