Another Virac drug lab public hearing to be slated soon

Mar 7, 2017 @ 9:56

We shall return.

That’s was Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Barbers’s promise to Catanduanes residents following the very revealing public hearing conducted by the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs in Virac last month.

“Yes we will schedule another public hearing very soon,” Barbers, chairman of the Committee, assured Tuesday.

It can be recalled that the panel conducted last February 23 a hearing on the mega-shabu laboratory in Barangay Palta Small, Virac which some reports said had the blessing of local authorities.

Discovered last November, the clandestine lab is said to be capable of churning out 9.6 tons of shabu a month.

After the that hearing, Barbers was left with the impression that the drug lab’s operators were “being extended protection by certain authorities from Catanduanes.”

As such, the politiko vowed to continue the House inquiry on the drug lab, something that was backed by vice chair, AKO-Bicol Party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe. #
