Virac Judge Contreras claims she didn’t set foot on drug lab…but she did
Virac, Catanduanes Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Lelu Contreras lied about her supposed absence on the site of the mega-shabu laboratory on the day of its discovery last November 26.
This was Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Barbers’s assessment as he led the conduct of a public hearing on the controversy last February 23 at the Catanduanes State University auditorium.
It should be noted that Contreras has been in hot water for supposedly delaying the issuance of a search warrant to the police team that eventually raided the lab in Barangay Palta Small, Virac.
According to Barbers, the judge initially denied the police report of her presence in the site.
However, local newsmen were able to get a photo of her, together with Virac Mayor Samuel Laynes and Bicol Police Director Ramon Buenafe In the shabu lab premises prior to her signing of the search warrant.
“When we informed her that we have a photo of her together with Gen. Buenafe at the shabu lab premises at about 2 pm prior to her signing of the search warrant, she made an alibi, an excuse that she was outside and did not enter the shabu lab,” Barbers said.
Contreras was allegedly sighted multiple times at the shabu lab on the day of the raid: in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening after she signed the search warrant at about 5 pm.
Barbers chairs the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
