Di pa limot! House politikos to inspect Virac drug lab
The House Committee on Dangerous Drugs headed by its chair, Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Barbers is set to conduct an inspection on the “mega-sized” shabu lab in Virac, Catanduanes on February 22 and 23.
A document received by Politiko bared that a 10-man team will be sent to the site of the drug lab in Barangay Palta Small, Virac.
The lab, dubbed the largest ever discovered in the country, was raided by authorities in late November 2016.
It shook the province as it was located near the main highway and was reportedly capable of producing 9.6 tons of shabu per month. Reports said it operated for eight months before it’s discovery.
Barbers said the inspection was in line with House Resolution (HR) 585 filed by Catanduanes Rep. Cesar Sarmiento. Sarmiento is a member of the House Committee.
High-ranking politikos have been tagged in the operation of the drug facility, including Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua. Cua has repeatedly denied his hand in the lab or the local drug trade.
